Celebrating the holidays on assignment doesn’t have to be lonely. In case you won’t be making it home this year, you can still celebrate and share the love this season no matter how far away from home you are.
Celebrate Together with Other Travel Nurses
Don’t spend the holidays alone! Reach out to other travel nurses on your floor and facility-wide and celebrate together. Coordinate with other travelers to figure out the best location for the festive gathering. Pass out invitations or create a potluck sign-up. There is no better time for new traditions than the holiday season.
Celebrate on a Different Day
If you have ever worked a holiday on the floor or come from a huge family, then celebrating the holidays on a different day is probably nothing new for you. As long as you are surrounded by people you love and good food nothing else really matters.
Celebrate via FaceTime or Skype
Distance doesn’t have to keep you from celebrating with family and friends. Thanks to tools like FaceTime and Skype, you can celebrate with loved ones right from your computer, tablet, and smartphone – no matter where you are. Instead of eating alone, cook or call-in take out and eat with those you love most just as you normally would.
Celebrate by Volunteering Your Time
With extra time and no plan in hand, there is no better time volunteer than while traveling during the holiday season. After all, there is nothing like a good deed and helping those in need to help you fill the void of those you love.
